Our
work is individually hand printed on our antique
Vandercook SP15 printing press which has the ability to
print up to 13" x 19" poster size.
WHY
LETTERPRESS?
Letterpress printing
was invented in the 15th century as the first way to mass produce books.
This vintage printing technique is a relief process in
which a raised surface is inked and then pressed against
paper to create a direct impression. The raised surface
is normally metal type, metal dies or a newer technology
photopolymer plates.
Each piece is individually hand-fed and printed. Because
each piece is essentially created by hand slight
variations in color and registration can occur. The
impression created by the letterpress is simply
beautiful. Although letterpress is a time consuming
process it is well worth the unique results.
